Predicting the future by creating it...
We didn’t come this far to stop now!
in 2019 we stated a Tesla rental business in Brisbane [QLD, Australia - pop 1.5m] for several years we had one of the top rated Tesla rental web-sites in the country, at our peak we had more than 50x rental request per week for service in:
Brisbane [1.5m pop]
Sydney [4.5m pop]
Melbourne [2.8m pop]
in 2023 we moved much of our car fleet to Turo [as Turo opened Australian operations in late-2022] and after that we started winding back our own web-site [as Turo was offering a solid service for bookings and billing for peer-to-peer Tesla rentals].
now in 2025/2026 we have shifted our focus to supporting CyberTruck rentals and 'car pools' to allow other Tesla owners to have use of a CyberTruck [as needed] and an app to allow 'pools' of owners to share cars and profit from Turo rentals!
--
So what now?:
We see a path to adding value to CT owners in Austin from Q4-2025 allowing groups of Tesla owners (with Y and CT) to share cars and split profits form Turo rentals.
this would [for example] work like this:
Jeff, Tom and Sam each own 3x cars - Jeff and Sam each have 3x Y and Tom has 1x Y and 2x CT, each owner has all cars on Turo, each owner only needs <1.5x cars for personal use - a 'pool' is built with our app^, all pool members get to reserve any car on any dates [max 45days per month, per owner] - our app managers the Turo availability calendars via the Turo API and also manages the Tesla app via the 'Tesla for Business' web-site. [i.e. if Tom books his car for XYZ dates, on these days he is added to the Tesla app for his car and can summon his car to him as needed - and when not booked by him, our app will add the Turo renter to the car so they can Summon the car to them as needed]
[NOTE: we expect Tesla to also offer a rental service like Turo in 2026 or 2027 - at that time we will see if we can work with that system also if the terms and conditions set my Tesla support this, but this is 100% unknow at this time]
how our app will work:
[Above example, Tom with 40% as the fleet manager and low 5-days of personal use gets $5,482 net income, Sam with 44-days use (1.5-cars used) gets $2,429 net - meaning that Sam with 3x $500 per month car payments is still in profit $929 per month and Tom with 2x $900 CT payments and 1x $500 Y payment is in profit by $3,182 per month]
In the above example Jeff has reserved CT for the 1st to 9th of the month, then a Y from the 10th to the 30th, and also a Y for his wife on the 7th, 15th, 16th and 18th of the month. [34-days total car use for the month]
for this example, Jeff gets 30% of all Turo income from the 9-cars less his 'personal usage' - if all cars are rented 60% of the time at a $66 per day average use fee on Turo plus 30% by pool members - total pool 'income' is $14,256 less the 34-days of personal use Jeff has booked at $44 per day = $1,496 so the net income for Jeff is $2,781 [i.e. 30% of $14,256 = $4,277 less his own usage fees of $1,496 === net payment to Jeff of $2,781 for this month]
The above is obviously a heavily oversimplified example of how this will work, the main point of this page is to give an overview of how the app will calculate the payment distribution for the pool income.
the reason Jeff gets 30% not 33.3% if the fact that Tom* is the 'fleet manager' in this example, the fleet manager gets 10% of the total pool as he is the person that handles 100% of the customer communications with all Turo renters. [and the fleet manager also needs to pay for washing the cars, or get his kids to do it - lol...]
NOTE: this example would not be a direct 30% split to the owners as one owner in this example has more car value [Tom] - in reality this would be closer to:
Jeff 25%
Sam 25%
Tom 40% [as he owns the 2x CT = more car value in pool] (plus 10% if Tom is the fleet manager = 50% total)
[the 'per day' cost to the pool members to use a car would probably be set as 1.5x for CT - this will be a custom value in the app that each pool manager can adjust, but at 1.5x a person could have 15-days per month in a Y for $660 'cost' and this same cost for 10-days in the CT - assuming the base rate is set at $44 per day]
--
Q-1: When will this app be ready for use and what fees will be charged by 'cybertruckrentalsusa.com' for the service?
A-1: at this time we intend to make the app 100% FREE for each pool manager [a 'donation' request may be sent as a 'one time optional fee'] - we are not yet 'ready' to give the app to any pool managers as development is on-going at this time. We expect 'draft-1' of the app will be ready within 30-days of 'lv3/4' Austin operations. [i.e. we will not be finalizing the app until the Tesla cars can be 'summoned' by the owners in not less than the current robo cab area of service - ALL pool members will need to have a garaging address inside this service radius]
Q-2: What options will exist for people that want to use a car from the pool but do not own cars in the pool?
A-2: We hope to have approval from Tesla to offer such options, but we do not know yet if this will be possible [as the terms of FSD state that no 'external' fleet operators can use FSD other than the 'Tesla robo cab service'] - details on this TBC. - See this page;
https://www.cybertruckrentalsusa.com/rent-now
for a draft pricing structure for hoe this may work if approved by Tesla in 2026 [we have not yet made any formal request to Tesla on this as our app is still under development in 2025]
What will the requirements be regarding FSD?:
We expect that FSD on CT from 2023~2025 will cover unlimited use, but we also expect that new Tesla cars sold in 2026+ may not have FSD with unlimited use included - for pools where all cars have FSD with no limits on use, no issues, but for pools that have some cars with FSD paid per mile (assuming that Tesla start billing this way in 2026/2027) then we will add support for extra use to the app to allow the pool members to track and account for this.
we expect that FSD fee per mile may be 33c for people with 'limited' FSD and may be 66c/mi for cars that only have AP - if Tesla do other systems for billing or different rates, we will adjust the app to allow pool members to add custom rates.
--
What about Robo cab?
A: If/when members can add cars to Robo cab in Austin [expected in 2026] then if the car is not rented on Turo, the car can be added as a robo cab when pool members are not using it - in our app - the income for robo cab rides will be accounted for just as if the income was from a Turo booking.
-
What about FSD Fee per mile?:
A: We expect that cars owned in 2025 with FSD paid in full will not need to pay any extra fee per mile for FSD/Summon use - however, we expect that in 2026/2027 a per mile fee [$0.33c?] will be introduced by Tesla, so we are designing our app to be able to subtract such fees from the payments distribution to members if/when they is the case.
-
Turo fees:
All cars in the pool will need to be on the 80% or 90% Turo rate - we plan to ask Turo for a special consideration to allow for payment of a bond by the renter that is only refundable if the car is returned with no damage - and if not the bond will be used by the pool manager to cover the 'co-pay' for the Turo cover [NOTE: this is speculative as we do not know of Turo will allow this and if all US local stale laws will allow such a 'bond' payment system]
Turo rentals vs 'robo cab' earnings:
We expect that when Tesla allow personal cars to be added as robo cabs, many pool managers will set the Turo price per day to 200% the 'old' rate and robo cab operations will more than cover the $70~$120 per day normal Turo rental earnings - our app will allocate eastings to the pool for the same split regardless of if the earnings are from robo cab operations or from Turo rentals. [or from possible Turo 'style' rentals from Tesla if Tesla introduce such a service in 2026/2027.
House keeping:
In the above example Tom owns CT and is the 'fleet manager', however, some pools may elect to pay the 10% of gross pool earnings to an 'external' pool manager, imagine you are based in CA and only TX has FSD laws allowing for this type of service, the owners in CA with extra cars may elect to send cars to TX and hire a local TX 'non owner' to look after the cleaning and charging and that person would earn the 10% to cover the time to do the work.
End of trip charging:
when a pool member ends his/her time with a car, they will have not less than 30% SOC, or they will have a $50 'penalty' that the app will calculate if the SOC is under 30% at end of time with car. [the pool momager will bill Turo renters in the Turo app for any low SOC on return issues]
If the pool manager adds AC charging at home, there will be a system for payment to them for power in the app - details on this are TBC and will be custom fields for each pool manager to adjust.
Billing: Our app will automatically bill any on-trip charging to the Turo renters [Turo API permitting] and this will also be the case for road tolls and other on-trip costs.
Tickets and traffic fines: We hope that when we have a fleet of more than 100x cars that use our app; we will be able to negotiate a deal with Turo to allow for a 'discount when bigger bond is paid' - this is speculative at this time, but we hope to get Turo to agree that if the fleet manager takes an extra $1,500 bond from the renter, then the renter can have a 20% discount code to lower the Turo rental cost - in this case it will be the responsibility of the renter to pay any tickets or fines before the bond is refunded [14-days after end or rental] - taking this layer of complexity off Turo and make it a negotiation between the fleet manager and the renter, so for example if the renter has a $200 parking ticket, then the renter can pay this directly and also pay the fleet manager an admin fee for dealing with the fine and get a refund of bond less admin fees &/or the cost of said ticket. [we have found that doing this in Turo can be suboptimal in terms of time allowed to report, and the actions that Turo can take, we hope that Turo will allow a system where we can handle this in our app and only need to use Turo to help with this if we have a customer dispute] - we have found from the rental site we had in Brisbane that a person that has paid a $1,500 bon and can only get the bond refunded after 14-days of the end of the rental will behave in a much better way regarding payment of any extra costs to the owner than people that have paid only via Turo. we believe car owners will be happy to offer a lower rental rate [20% off] to renters that are willing to pay a $1,500 bond and only get the bond back after 14-days of end of rental - this will allow the renter to give positive feedback in the Turo app before any possible 'issues' that could make them less likely to give good feedback if they get a ticket or fine/fee.

Tesla FSD per-mile and Tesla Bot 'per 1hr' software pricing [speculation];
For us forecasting how Tesla will structure pricing is important for us to work out how our app will work, at this time we only plan to run an app to help support CyberTruck owners to run and share a pool of cars, however, if our approach proves useful to the public, we may also look at how we can help Bot owners do a similar thing...
We expect that the 'fee' for FSD software will be 33c/mi for people that have not paid or 'FSD for life of car' [pricing for this as 'FSD Supervised' in 2025 is $10k-USD - we expect this to be limited to 8,000mi/pa of LV3/4 use:
We expect that LV3/4 will be offered to cars that have FSD on a 'per drive' basis on drives where Tesla are happy to take in liability for the trip - in such a case [after included miles are used up] this will be at a cost to the owner of 33c/mi [to cover the remote operations if needed and to attach Tesla insurance cover for the trip.
we expect that Tesla insurance will be solder at a lower rate for people that do more than 95% of total miles with 'FSD supervised' running, but any drives on lv3/4 will be counted on a 'separate' ledger as the per-mile rate will include insurance under the 'FSD unsupervised' service offer.
we expect that [for example] if you are in Austin and do a 30mi drive with the gps destination inside of the current robo taxi service area - then Tesla will offer LV3/4 service for that drive, with the cost and terms of service displayed on screen - it may be a condition that you do not sit in the drivers seat if you accept lv4 and under lv3 you may be able to remain in the drivers seat with the condition that if you want to take over then you give a 90second notice to transfer driving liability [and we expect that Tesla when offering lv3 will also give you 90sec notice to take over - in a case that you are driving from Austin to Las Vegas, then this may be a case where Tesla will offer lv3 for several 'legs' of the drive, with you taking liability for any sections of road with low internet 4g/5g service for example.

What about the bot?
We expect that if you can buy a Tesla bot for personal use in 2027, if the cost is $55k-USD this will include 12hr/wk use in the home [max 200m from gps location of owner's phone - max 5yrs 12hr/wk included] and extra use per week, &/or any use when bot 'work' is not 'local to owner' it will be billed at $6-USD/1hr.
we expect Tesla will run an app to allow people to share bots and Tesla will manage the rental rates and billing [to include the $6 above and profits for the owner] - however, if the forecasted rates above are correct but Tesla do not run a service for rental and sharing, we may also make an app to fill any needs that may exist here in 2027/2028.

Q: Should Tesla pay $500m for TV ads in 2026 or expand the referral program to include payment for 'brand ambassadors'?
A: we believe that the best way to grow sales in 2026 is by giving people the options to register as a 'brand ambassador' and this will delete the 10-referral PA limit from the normal referral program - at this time in the USA this program gives the referrer a 'cash bonus' of $500 per car sold [with some limits and exclusions].
we suggest this should be $250 each car sale and no limits on qty/pa and redeemable on the purchase of a car only. [72-month expiration time].
we suggest that under this system, you can select to register for this 'new' program at any time, and you can get to ~8x under the old program and then move to this new program.
we suggest that this should be a system where 'bigger' people [i.e. if you have 100k X followers or if you have 300k+ subscribers on YouTube] then you can join this program for FREE [pending approval from Tesla, and verifications of your credentials] - but also for people like me [x.com/MillinBear - tesla.com/referral/millin36745] with only dozens of followers but many thousands of business contacts, I could pay a $1,500[USD] fee to Tesla to join the 'brand ambassador' program, no approval required but approval required for 'special offers' [see below form for details] - this would be under the condition that I generate 10x+ referrals per year, or pay the $1,500 again in a year if not...
FORM:
Register for 'brand ambassador' referral program [entre existing Tesla referral link]
application type; [free registrations, for people with x-followers // paid registration $1500 fee for 12-months membership]
special program selection;
default [your customers get the normal referral bonus plus 30-day extra fsd or $200 off fsf]
fsd promotor; your customers get $2,200 off FSD or $1,100 off eap
fsd ROI bonus; your customers pay full price for FSD but get 3,500mi per 90-days extra lv3 miles free
custom [let us know what deal you want to offer clients] - by application and approval only - must have 30x referrals in the past 6-monhts to apply. [$200 application fee payable in submission] - example below of what we think this form shoudl look like on the Tesla web-site if they decide to emply this system;
